Dhis precariously placed fellow is Securicoes chief executive Roger Wiggs, following the announcement that the company has signed a £2m, twoyear deal to sponsor Britain's athletes via the British Athletics Federation. The Hawk duly turned up with the nation's athletics correspondents and stood around trying to look knowledgeable, while at the same time work out Roger Black's identity. Former Olympic javelin champion Tessa Sanderson, the one at the front and clearly the more comfortable of the two, is coming out of retirement to compete.
The company will now give its name to the Securicor AAA Championships, which incorporate the Olympic trials, to be held in Birmingham in June and the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.
Naturally the Hawk is already in training to enter the shot putt with the sight firmly set on Atlanta and this year's Olympics.
