The fare for 50 miles will be raised from 5s 3d. to (s. 3d.

7m. TONS IN SIX YEARS I N the past six years, Nottingham and District Hauliers, Ltd., an East Midland group, has moved over 7rn, tons of coal. Mr. C. G. Simmonds, deputy marketing director of the East Midlands division of the National Coal Board (open-cast coal production) paid tribute to the group's activities at its annual dinner in Nottingham, last week.

The fleet has increased from 90 vehicles to over 400. The company's co-operation with the Board had done much to solve transport problems, said Mr. Simmonds, who gave special praise to the drivers.

DUNDEE-GUERNSEY TOUR?

AN application to run a tour from Dundee to the Channel Islands was submitted, last week. by R. Dickson, Jnr., Ltd., to the Scottish Licensing Authority. Mr. G. Scott, manager of the company, said that the proposed tour would cost about £30; passengers would be flown over to Guernsey.

The applicant also asked for an extension of its tours licence to cover the whole year and for an increase from one to three in the number of coaches allowed to be run on evening tours. Objections were lodged by W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd., A. W. Watson and Co. and the Railway Executive. The hearing was adjourned.
