In his more fanciful moments the Hawk sometimes imagines himself as a daredevil racing driver. In truth he finds the wheelshake once he hits 60mph in his Reliant Robin tips the balance in favour of a desk job. No such worries for Finnish driver Harri Luostarinen who will be campaigning in the 1999 Caterpillar Supertruck, developed by the London-based Chris Hodge Truck Racing Development team. The latest Hodge contender features a lower, lighter and stiffer chassis with a revised suspension design which incorporates a DeDion rear axle. Harris is pictured sitting astride the team's secret weapon; the C12 engine. The latest developments to this 12-litre, 1,400hp firebreather are designed to ensure that the Caterpillar-TRD Supertruck stays in front. The Supertruck chalked up 12 victories last season; double the tally of championship winner, Frenchman Ludovic Faure. This season the British team aim to win, and you can rest assured they'll be taking no prisoners!
