Spice aims to open a nationdistribution centre (NDC) at Voodside Park, Dunstable, edfordshire, in the autumn. [he NDC is purpose designed o produce a stock-handling :apacity to support an £80 milion turnover for the group. [his is four times the existing urnover.
Spice, based at Staines, Midllesex, told Workshop that it ilans to become the leading listributor in the automotive ifter-market in three channels — motor factors, distribution iusinesses, and cash and car The company has enlisted :onsultancies in inventory conrol, warehouse management aid physical distribution to iack up a Spice management earn led by Brian Smith. They viii develop the NDC as the oundation for business expan;ion.
The capital investment value s more than E4 million. There viii be 13 loading docks and itorage space for 6,250 equivaent pallet locations. The num)er of product lines stocked, will be between 30,000 and 10,000.
