poor maintenance
• Glasgow-based Alternative Refuse Management has been warned about the maintenance of its vehicles by Scottish Licensing Authority Hugh McNamara.
The company, which holds a licence specifying three vehicles, was called for disciplinary proceedings following the issue of two immediate prohibitions in April and September of last year, one of such was endorsed "neglect".
Michael Whiteford, for the company, explained that its vehicles had frequently been sent in to the commercial garage contracted to carry the maintenance. The company felt that the garage bore most of the responsibility for the condition in which the vehicles were found, because it should have picked up the defects recorded on the prohibition notices.
McNamara took no action, other than to issue a warning, after being told that the vehicles were now being maintained by a different garage.
