Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

front wheel will show up any play in the kingpins, once the wheel has been lifted off the deck of the ramp. These front wheels fell with a hefty clonk as the vehicle was lifted, so the bar was not really necessary.

The kingpins have taper roller bearings at the top, and a plain bush at the bottom. Although taper bearings are normally adjustable, because all of the wear is in one place, the races pit under the rollers, so replacement is the only answer. If the lower bushes are replaced carefully, they should not need to be reamed to size. Top and bottom bearings have nipples.
