THE Northern LA last week reserved his decision on an 0-licence application by John Grand, of Hartlepool, until, in conjuction with Easington District Council, he had found a suitable site.
Mr Grand told the LA he had been a slaughterman for 13 years but because of recession in the meat trade he bought a tipper for carrying sea coal from the shore during the winter. He also owned a trawler, hired out for fishing trips in the summer. The tipper had been parked at the rear of his premises without complaint until the council called.
Mr W. Spedding, enforcement officer, said there had been complaints from residents of obstruction and loss of amenity. The council would help in finding a suitable operating centre.
