Versatile jig-saw Lighting equipment

THREE new pieces of lighting equipment are announced by Rubbolite Flexible Lamps Ltd. They are a composite rearlight reflector and flasher-lamp, a side flasher-lamp and a waterproof, six-core junction box.

The rear-lamp assembly, Model 45/T, is a well-made, rubberbodied unit which carries the bulb holders and plastics lens completely insulated from road and engine vibration shocks.

It is divided into three sections with either the divisions or a back plate carrying the bulb-holders for the flasher, rear-lights and stop lights. In some cases a combined stop and tail bulb is fitted.

The unit can be supplied with or without a number-plate illumination window and, because of the design of the lens, is suitable for mourning either vertically or horizontally, complying in both positions with lighting regulation requirements. Designed to fit on to a curved contour, the flasher-lamp, Model 48/1, provides both a forward and rearward photometric display of light essential if supplementary side-mounted units are to be avoided.

The lens of this unit has its body moulded at an angle to its fixing base to permit corner mounting and again is carried in a completely insulated rubber base. The bulb holder base is of substantial dimensions and the fitting is a robust and noncorrosive one.

Produced to supplement the popular Rubbolite 8 waterproof Junction box, the Rubbolite 6 junction is produced in Neoprene and is impervious to oil and grease. It is a completely waterproof unit with cable entries designed to accept from 1to 7-core cable.

For ease of wiring and general accessibility the terminal-block is moulded in self-coloured Neoprene complete with the lid and contains rigid, two-screw brass couplings. Made by: Rubbolite Flexible Lamps Ltd., Epping, Essex.

Prices: Stop, tail flasher-lamp, £.2 10s.; side flasher-lamp, Model

48/1, 10s. 6d.; Junction 6, 12s.

NTDA booklet

THE 1966 National Tyre Distributors' Association booklet is now available to members' customers. The booklet, which has been issued to all Association members, contains slightly less than 1,000 names, addresses and telephone numbers of depots that provide tyre breakdown services. Among these are 650 depots that offer an all-night service, and the booklet covers 400 towns in the UK.

The print run of the booklets was 160,000 for 1966 compared with only 120,000 for 1965. This gives some idea of the increasing strength of the Association, as well as the many more commercial vehicle operators who are participating in the scheme.

Information can be obtained from your nearest NTDA member, or from the Secretary of the NTDA, 35 Portland Place, London WI.

JIG-SAW which makes 4,000 strokes per minute is now available from Ski! Power Tools Ltd. The saw, made in the Netherlands, is claimed to be suitable for cutting intricate patterns, curved lines, ripping or cross-cutting in wood, metal-composition materials, and plastics.

The design of the machine produces an orbital stroke on the saw blade, making it move into the work on the up stroke and back away from the work on the down stroke, so avoiding any unnecessary friction. Dust is automatically blown off the work line, giving the operator a clear view of the work piece.

Other advantages claimed for the machine are double insulation, rugged construction, the inclusion of an extra burn-out protection on the motor and a built-in radio/television suppressor.

Standard equipment includes three assorted saw blades. Marketed by: Skil (Great Britain) Ltd., 59 High Street, Hounslow, Middlesex.

Price: £19 10s.

It is finished in grey stove enamel and is contained in a steel enclosure measuring 15 in. by 4.25 in. by 2.5 in. fitted with rubber feet on the underside.
