Dundee Corporation buses to oil fuel is recommended in a report by Mr. William .Aitken, city chamberlain. He states that the transport manager has recommended that 14 double-deck buses be so converted and the cost be defrayed out of the reserve fund.
The suggestion is made on the ground that the fuel cost of oil-driven vehicles is considerably less than for petrol-driven vehicles. It is estimated that the annual saving in fuel costs is, approximately, £230 per vehicle.
The cost of conversion per vehicle is estimated at about 2450.
