Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LAST week, a sub-committee of Dundee Corporation transport committee visited the works of a local body-building concern with a view to placing an order for some of the bodies for Dundee Corporation buses. Following the visit the sub-committee decided that the corporation should not place an order with the local bodybuilder and that the transport committee be asked to accept an English tender.

Treasurer Caldwell said it was the wish of the corporation to encourage local industry, but probably anything up to £10,000 worth of plant would have to be put in to deal with a maximum of eight to 10 bodies a year. In the circumstances, it would have to purchase outside the city. Councillor S. M. Gove had stated that the order for the two bus bodies which he had proposed should be given to the local bodybuilder was no use to him as the prices would not cover costs.

TRAM DEPOT CONVERSION.

THE Wood Green tram depot of London Transport is being converted to meet the needs of trolleybus operation. The contract provides for the building of a new washing bay, in the place of existing offices, which are to be demolished.
