Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DESPITE THE PREDICTABLE bluster from Roger King (pictured, below). of the Road Haulage Association in his letter to Commercial Motor (CM 11 August), he again fails to answer any of the questions I have raised.

First off, given that few owner-drivers will be able to cope with the ET I Road Transport Directive (RID), why did the RHA demand that owner-drivers he included from day one?

Second, does he think it is sensible to depend on interpretations of the guidelines on Periods of Availability and Off Duty Working which are not supported by legislation— and should he not inform his membership that one simple court case could wipe them out overnight?

Third, why does he accept the EU claim that the RTD will add to health and safety when the opposite is more likely?

Fourth, is there the slightest chance that his association will ever actively support and co-ordinate industrial action?

And fifth, if the answer to four is yes, is it not about time he organised a ballot of his members and included them in his deliberations?
