• Manchester independent bus company Bee Line Buzz looks certain to be sold this weekend by owner BET, and a mystery buyer has been found for at least two thirds of the operation.

Since deregulation, Manchester's bus passengers have benefitted from the price war fought on many south Manchester routes between Bee Line and rival GM Buses, the former municipal operator.

For several weeks GMB says it has been trying to seek a reduced level of service deal in the area with Bee Line, but as Bee Line wanted its competitor to withdraw from several of its most profitable routes, talks broke down.
