Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A BIG effort must be made to counteract soaring crime in this country, and the road haulage industry must play its part. For theft is costing our industry an estimated £100m per year.

Therefore, we welcome the efforts of the Road Haulage Association in organising an anti-crime week — the third of its kind, and planned by RHA's vehicle security committee. Aimed at putting "an almighty kick into the theft-resistance of hauliers and own account operators," the campaigns initials aptly spell HOOF (Hands Off Our Freight).

We urge all our readers to give these efforts, which start on Tuesday and culminate at our jubilee LDoY finals at Cranfield on September 3, all the support you can. Nearly 60,000 posters are being distributed. What is important is that all those in road transport become more security conscious in the months ahead.

We have had various articles on crime-beating in CM this year. Take note, and pass on your own good ideas to colleagues.
