Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO Seddon Atkinson rigids converted into tractive units by Primrose have entered service with an own-account operator in Warwickshire — Thwaites Engineering Co Ltd of Leamington Spa.

The machines were originally 16-ton haulage chassis with a wheelbase of 4.5m (14ft 8in). As converted by Primrose, they now have a wheelbase of 2.9m (9ft Gin) and are plated for 20 tonnes (19.7tons) gcw. With fifth wheel and lead-on ramps, each Seddon Atkinson weighs 4.58 tonnes (4tons lOcwt).

The special order was arranged by Scotts of Earl Shilton, Leicestershire at the cost of about £1,000 for each conversion.

Tractive unit versions of the Seddon Atkinson 200-Series are not available as standard production units but Thwaites were pleased enough with the 16-tonners to go for a heavier version. Pending engineering approval from Seddon Atkinson and depending on axle ratio, the 200 can be used at up to 22 tonnes gcw.
