• Edinburgh's threatened bus strike has been averted. An increase of £1.25 on the basic weekly rates was overwhelmingly accepted on Friday. The offer was put to late-shift crews the following day. An extra 25p — with no strings attached — on the Corporation's original offer of El was decided on by the finance committee at an 80-minute private meeting on Friday.
