• West Midlands PTE has asked Birmingham Corporation to share the cost of commissioning a study of bus priority schemes. Measures that may be considered for Birmingham include bus-only lanes, mainly at congestion black spots; bus-activated traffic lights; right of way for buses pulling out of laybys.
The study may rank for a 50 per cent Government grant.
Birmingham Corporation has been asked to engage consultants to look at perhaps a dozen black spots in the city with a view to seeing what improvements could be made.
