• Mr John Peyton, Minister for Transport Industries and Monsieur Robert Galley, the French Minister of Transport, have agreed with the international group responsible for the Channel Tunnel studies the basis upon which those studies would be continued. It is hoped that a formal agreement will be signed by September 30. Under this agreement the studies would be completed by the middle of 1973 at a cost of about £5m of which about half will be guaranteed by the two Governments; the remainder to be provided by the Group from private sources.
