SMITH'S Delivery Vehicles Ltd., Gateshead on Tyne, is to manufacture the Unit Body and Developments Ltd., aluminium bodies for distribution in Northumberland and Durham. Smith hopes to build 50 bodies by the end of the year and expects its licence to be extended to cover Cumberland and Westmorland.
Roads Upkeep Inquiry; The problems of highway maintenance and the potential for higher returns from the f 20m a year spent on repairing trunk roads and motorways and the £100m a year on local authority roads are to be examined by a committee set up jointly by the Government and the Local Authority Associations. The inquiry is expected to take about two years.
