Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FROM Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. conies a new version (below) of its ConLeader chassis to carry two sizes of ISO and three of Freightliner containers.

The new version is an alternative to the lighter Con-Leader which carries only one size of container-20, 30 or 4011, according to model.

BR has taken delivery of 96 of the new Con-Leaders--91 tandem-axle and five three-axle, and is also buying 30 of the original model to carry 2011 ISO containers.

The new Con-Leaders supplied to BR carry 20 or 3011 ISO, or 30, 27 or 20ft Freightliner containers. Other lengths are available for different combinations of sizes and types of containers.

To keep the weight to a minimum and still provide strength for mounting the securing devices, Crane Fruehauf has rejected the idea of heavy outriggers in favour of two sidemembers supported by lighter cross

members. This gives the vehicle a more complete chassis appearance than the previous Con-Leader.

The 30 and 2011 ISO containers are locked on to the chassis by manually operated twist locks built into the two side-members. The twist locks—pyramid-shaped castings mounted on locating bases—lock into the bottom apertures of the container corner castings. In the locked position they lie at an angle to the base and to the line of the corner casting apertures.

To meet BR Freightliner container requirements, the Con-Leader chassis are also fitted with Freightliner locating pins and G clamps.

Cone-shaped locating pins guide the container on to the chassis and mate into castings in the underside of the container, which container is locked by spring-loaded G clamps.

Location of container on chassis is assisted by a tapered guide horn at the front of the vehicle.

As the Con-Leader carries five different sizes and types, the twist locks and locating pins needed for a 20ft container are removable to avoid damaging the underside of a 3011 container.

Another new feature of the Con-Leader chassis: a deck on to which fork lift trucks can run from loading decks to reach the rear doors of 20ft containers mounted on the fore part of the chassis.
