Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ABOUT 300 bus inspectors may strike unless they are awarded a 25s-a-week rise which they say has been promised to them from this month.

They are employed by North East municipal undertakings and are planning a mass meeting to consider strike action.

The increase was agreed to by the transport advisory committee of the National Joint Council early in June. But now the Ministry of Local Government has asked for the application to be resubmitted which means that the rise will become subject to the Government Prices and Incomes policy.

A TGWU spokesman said in Newcastle upon Tyne:— "The inspectors are protesting because similar rises have been awarded to other transport workers. If something is not done it is very likely that they will decide to stop weekend working. This would cripple bus services in the area."
