Delays of up to a week before collection from premises for delivery by BRS and BR had been quoted to Mr. G. C. Price of Collins Industrial Vessels Ltd., Warrington. He said the best quotation was from a private haulier and that had been five days.
For the Transport Holding Co., Mr. J. S. Lawton said that only two trailers were authorized on B licence and yet schedules showed that the company owned 14 trailers of differing specification. He submitted there was no evidence of need and the application had been made so that the haulier could make more money.
Mr. Jolliffe reserved his decision on the A-licence application but said that on the same evidence he would consider the pending B-licence renewal and variation applications in respect of 16 vehicles. The company applied for an extension of the operating radius from 100 to 200 miles in regard to 14 of its B-licensed vehicles.
