A REPORT in an influential national newspaper that Geest Industries—whose banana traffic is worth over Lim a year to British Railways—plans a major switch to road was denied by a Geest spokesman this week.
The new Geest depot and ripening centre near Litchfield, opened in April, was designed purely for road transport operations. But deliveries ex docks to other depots at Barry, Preston, Spalding, Dunmow and Airdrie are mainly by insulated rail wagons.
