DESPITE strong TGWU protests that the move would hold up "urgent" pay claims (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, last week), the Government has referred the question of lorry drivers' wages to the Prices and Incomes Board. The Board is also to examine charges, costs and the scope for increasing productivity. Road haulage rates were the subject of the very first PIB reference; the wages aspect is a new consideration.
