rCOMMERCIAL MOTOR'S July 28 issue eport on the new licensing proposals, Mr. W. G. Widnall, chairman of the Industrial Transport Association was quoted as saying: "This refreshing and up-to-date attitude of the Minister should be welcomed by all thinking members of the profession" —a comment on the transport managers' professionalism aspect of the proposals only.
In our August 18 issue his words were again quoted in "Summit on Licensing", but without reference to their proper context.
The ITA fears his words would well be misunderstood to apply to all the proposals. Mr. Widnall has made no comment regarding the remainder of the proposals, neither has this Association in any way endorsed them.
As an educational, examinational and professional body the Association can naturally take no part in matters of a political nature or which are the sole concern of the haulage industry and its appropriate trade unions.
