Realising the difficulty which users of the road often experience in deciphering direction signs either On lamp-posts or situated near to them, the Automobile Association has introduced a new type of reflector and sign so as to throw the light in a downward direction and thus render the wording on the arms clearly readable after dark. One of the first sets of these illuminated signs has been erected on the Great West Road, 103. miles out of London.
