Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rr MERE is a probability that official steps will soon be taken regarding the inaccuracies of many pumps supplying petrol to consumers.. From the tests which have been made it would appear that some 75 per cent. of the pumps tested delivered an excess and, therefore, the consumer is more likely to benefit than otherwise. In view of this we would emphasize the importance of dealing with the matter in such a manner as not to throw a severe burden upon the owners.

So far as the type of pump is concerned, it would seem that there can be little risk of short or excess deliveries If the petrol be passed through a calibrated visible measure. It may be possible, by exercise of Ingenuity on the part of designers, to provide some device of this nature fdr existing pumps. In any case, if a time limit for making the devices quite accurate be given, this should be generous.
