Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

From a report recently issued by the Department of Overseas Trade dealing with Syria, we gather that the use of road Motors is increasing in that country. It is stated that motor lorries operating from Aleppo have, practically killed the camel caravan trade, whilst the service on the Alexandretta road, which is maintained mostly by Fiat lorries, is growing' in importance.

The trans-desert services which' lint Iraq and Persia with Syria are now firmly established, and it is worth recording that between the months of February. and October, 1924, inclusive, 2,417 passengers travelled between Pagdad and Damascus and 4,235 in the reverse direction. Neither the summer heat nor the rains of winter have affected traffic to any appreciable extent, and it is gratifying to record that the serious development of this service is due to British enterprise, the regular service being maintained by two companies, one entirely British and the other in which British capital is interested. Each Service follows a different route and caters for somewhat different categories of traveller. Hitherto they have been chiefly used for carrying passengers, but routes are now beginning to be opened up for the transportof light Etta valuable goods.
