The Suffolk-based firm said price increases at its previous tyre provider meant they were no longer a viable proposition, but the results of the GT Radial patterns tested proved "exceptional".
Fleet engineer David Reid said: "We had 10 new tipping trailers and we put [GT] tyres on the rear axles of three of them. It took 18 months; you have to go full circle to evaluate them. We are saving 15% on tyre costs. The acceptance rate to remould them is good and the value of the casings are good too. Taking that all into consideration, it was a no-brainer."
The 10 new Wilcox plank-sided tipping trailers are being used on its bulk haulage contracts for breweries.
