Accurate description of CVs entered for auctions is vitally important, but the picture painted by the vendor isn't always a precise one, says Alex Wright, group commercial vehicle manager at Manheim Auctions. They don't always say for example whether a tipper is aluminium or steel, or if a Luton body is aluminium or GAP, he says: "Many vendors simply don't know how to assess the wear and tear on their commercial vehicles because no accurate guidelines exist, so sometimes they ignore wear and tear completely," Manheim has mounted a drive to improve the accuracy of descriptions.
