• Fifty drivers delivering fuel for Kuwait Petroleum will be working for Exel Logistics from 1 July, when its Tankfreight division takes over the contract to distribute petrol throughout Kuwait's UK network of 500 service stations.

The drivers, who will still be based at Kuwait's 10 supply points around the country, were originally employed by the firm's own transport operation.

Tankfreight has been appointed following a detailed feasibility study. Under the terms of the five-year contract, Tankfreight will acquire Kuwait's 50-vehicle fleet and will be paid £3m a year to deliv. er the fuel.

Exel says the drivers' pay and conditions will remain the same and there will be no job losses.

Tradeteam, the joint venture between Exel Logistics and Bass announced job losses in January after just four months of trading. When Tradeteam was set up both companies said there would be no redundancies.
