Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new test unit to check the correct functioning of diesel engine heater plugs has been introduced by German manufacturer BERU-Ruprecht. After disconnecting the power cable, plugs need not be removed for the test to be carried out and it is not necesary to start the engine.

Defective plugs are unlikely to show up during the summer because engines generally start more easily without use of the pre-heat facility. The usual practice of replacing complete sets of glow plugs is the most certain way of ensuring efficient operation during the winter months; it is also the most expensive solution. The new hand-held tester from BERU enables individual plugs to be checked to prevent starting problems.
