• North London-based removals company Cole Brothers has been bought by NFC subsidiary Pitt and Scott, which specialises in international and fine art movements.
Pitt and Scott's general manager Ken Vause says: "The acquisition is part of Pitt and Scott's overall strategy to develop its London domestic storage and removals capacity."
Nine Cole Brothers' pantechnicons will be transferred to the Pitt and Scott fleet, but Cole Brothers' depository will be retained by its former owner, the John Lewis Partnership.
The Cole Brothers name will be dropped, but may feature on vehicle liveries as "Pitt and Scott (incorporating Cole Brothers)". Cole Brothers staff of 34 have been offered jobs with Pitt and Scott, with the chance to become shareholders in the National Freight Consortium.
As part of Pitt and Scott, Cole Brothers will be in the NFC's Alternative Brands Division.
