• Brimech Industries (UK) has been formed to market its range of recoil thread inserts — made in Australia — in Europe.
"Ultra-modern manufacturing techniques permit closer tolerances, thus eliminating the need for prewinding, which enables simple hand tools to speedily create or repair threads," says the company.
Recoil is stainless steel wire with a diamond cross-section wound to the shape of a spring thread. The wound insert is larger in diameter than the tapped hole; installing compresses the spring, then the springback action anchors the insert in place. Brimech: Unit 14, Monroe Rd, Wolverhampton.
