NEW NETWORK ON THE AIR • A new company called National Mobile Radio has been formed to operate a public radio communications service in the London, Birmingham and Manchester areas. The company also intends to collaborate with Edinburgh-based Tactic() Holdings in offering a similar service to subscribers in Scotland under the name "Scottish Airtime Services."
National Mobile Radio is acquiring some of the assets of National Radiofone, including its community radio repeater business. The company will provide mobile voice and data radio services using frequencies to he licensed to it by the Department of Trade and Industry in the Band III spectrum.
