Four types of truck are being assembled at the Narciso LOpez Roselle) factory in Havana: three in co-operation with the Spanish firm Pegaso and the other in co-operation with Kamaz of the Soviet Union.
The agreement with Pegaso covers two models of Taino trucks that can carry 38 and 45 tonnes of cargo and a 17-tonne tipper. Under the first stage of this agreement, about 10% of the Taino trucks and 14% of the dump trucks are to be manufactured in Cuba. In 1990, more than 80% of each model will be Cuban-made.
Since 1985, 426 Pegaso trucks have been built in Cuba.
As far as co-operation with Kamaz is concerned, 1000 11ton Kamaz-Taino trucks are to be built in Cuba by 1990. Cranma Weekly Review (Cuba), February 1, 1987.
