Our man in the North tells me of a new form of sponsorship which makes good reading.
Bob Slicer, md of the Bradford-based national breakdown recovery service, approached Yorkshire .batsman Geoff Boycott and offered to sponsor him at El for each first-class run in the coming season. To Geoff's credit, he refused the money for himself but agreed to be sponsored in aid of charity, and now the NBRS plans to launch a national scheme and to name a charity.
