The accompanying table gives itemized figures for buses and coaches. These vehicles carried 156m. more passengers in 1950 than in 1949 and earned another Dm., or 0.01d. per passenger-journey. Vehicle mileage rose by 30m. and receipts per vehiclemile fell by 0.0td..

The number of passengers and receipts were higher, in all sections except excursions and tours, and veh-cle-mileage rose all round. Only stage services showed a drop in receipts per passenger-journey and only contract services earned lower revenue per vehicle-mile.

Trolleybuses carried 5m. more passengers and covered 2m, more miles, earning an extra 0.07d. per passengerjourney and 0.67d. per vehicle-mile. There was no change in total receipts. The figures are: Passenger-journeys (1949) 1.110m., (1950) J,115m.; receipts (1949) am., (1950) £8m.; vehiele-miles 11949) 79m., (1950) 81m.; receipts per passenger-journey (1949) 1.69d.„ (1950) 1.76d.; receipts. per vehicle-mile (1949) 23.74d , (1950) 24.41d. The number of busesand :coaches rose from 62,080 (37,749 single-deekers and 24.331 double-deckers) in 1949 to 65,370 (40,002 single-deckers and 25,368 double-deckers) in 1950. Trolleyb uses dwindled 1-5■., four from 2,322 to 2,318.
