• More than 80% of truck, bus and van drivers have found themselves falling asleep at the wheel and nearly 70% of them admit to it occurring twice or more a year, according to a survey by road safety campaign group Brake. Broke's data is based on interviews with 119 drivers including 31 truck drivers, three van drivers and five PSV drivers at the Granada Services, Lakeside, Thurrock.

It indicates that 66% of all drivers and 82% of CV vehicle drivers have caught themselves dozing off at the wheel at some point. An alarming 68% of the CV drivers estimate it happens to them twice or more a year—and 14% admit to 10 or more incidents a year. See News Extra, page 14.
