• Corby civil engineering company Weldon Plant has had a Ford van converted to a mobile workshop by newly incorporated Edstrom of Sweden.

Weldon Plant's service vehi cle now carries spare parts, tools, and electric welding gear complete with genset and oxyacetylene equipment.

The new company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish mobile equipment manufacturer. It did all the floor work for the conversion, and panelling, lighting and even mounted an extending vice.

Edstrom is about to open new premises in Corby and sales manager Steve Loughlin can be contacted on Corby 203040.

• IMI Radiators of Shepley and Leeds received the Queen's Award For Export Achievement from the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Lord Ingrow, at its Baildon works.

In 1979 exports represented just 3% of sales, says the company, "but declining prospects for the British motor industry encouraged a revised strategy".

Radiators, intercoolers, oil coolers, condensors and evaporators sold in EEC and America now amount to 46% of sales.
