In Top level managers at London Regional Transport met this week to discuss the possible deregulation of buses in London.
Chairman Sir Keith Bright told the meeting he could foresee London Buses being split into ten sections and sold off within four years. He suggested that the Government may also decide to privatise the Underground network, possibly through a sale.
LRT says the meeting was called to ready the organisation for the Government's deregulation plans in the capital: "The Government has made it clear it wants deregulation in London," it says, "and we feel we need to work in co-operation with the Department of Transport to ensure the outcome I suits London's needs."
