Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In our Daf FA 1900 roadtest (CM 27 August-2 September) the average fuel consumption of one of the 16-tonners against which the Daf was compared, the MAN 16.170, was shown as 25.5 lit/1001cm. In fact the MAN's overall average fuel consumption over our Welsh route when we tested it (CM 20 December, 1986), was 23.3 lit/1001cm (12.1mpg), compared with the Dafs 22.5 lit/ 1001cm (12.55mpg). The MAN averaged 25.51it/1001tin over the more-demanding distribution route section of our test.
