ADVANCES in coach design are immediately obvious to even the casual Coach Fair visitor. Our array of 40 coaches shows a wide cross-section of both long and shorthaul coaches and the vast majority offer features such as reclining seats and videos. The component exhibits emphasise that the advances in interior furnishings have been met by similar advances in both safety and economy as well as overall performance.

The increased scope for coach operators since the 1980 Transport Act is evidenced by the number of travel company exhibitors offering accommodation and holiday packages for the coach operator to market. Both operators and travel agents should find useful business propositions among these exhibits.

Potential coach hirers and group travel organisers will find a number of coach operators eager for business in both the Thames Hall workshop desks and stands as well as the outside chalets, and will find plenty of examples of the type of travel facilities on offer.

Coach Fair shows coaches to be exciting, attractive and safety conscious, so come in and look around.

Webasto (Hefac Engineering Ltd), Units 17/18 Station Lane Industrial Estate, Witney, Oxfordshire, 0X8 GAS RECENT YEARS have seen tremendous improvements to the heating systems of British coaches, British bodybuilders now fit heaters comparable to those of Continental bodybuilders. One result of this is that Webasto heaters, long considered a bit of an oddity, have been fitted to around 1,000 British coaches within the past two years.

The latest heating systems are between two and three times as powerful as heating systems on older coaches. Engines have become more efficient to improve fuel economy but now generate less heat. These developments have caused a problem new in Britain; some coach engines simply do not generate enough waste heat to supply the heaters on really cold days. This is why the Continentals take it for granted that every coach must have a combustion heater.

Webasto believes it has over 90 per cent of the coach market for heaters throughout Europe. At Coach Fair it is to introduce a new heater, type DBW3001( which is supplied with all parts assembled in a box ready for either retrospective fitting or fitting by a bodybuilder in a new vehicle.
