HRH THE DUKE of Kent will officially open the 28th International Commercial Motor Show at noon on Friday the 24th, cutting the tape on possibly the largest and certainly the last Commercial Motor exhibition at Earls Court.
The next Show, it has been announced, is to be held in 1978 at the new Natipnal. Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, so for many this will be a last nostalgic visit to the Earls Court venue As the plans on these pages show the vehicle manufacturers will be on the g round floor, with • 40 different working models — including 19 imported makes — on display.
Components, accessories, tyres, garage equipment and other products will be shown on the first floor, with some exhibited around the vehicle manufacturers down on the ground. The most important stand of all, the Commercial Motor magazine display, is just beside the Warwick Road
entrance. All CM -readers are invited to drop by for a chat.
The Show will be open from September 24 through to October 2, daily except Sunday, from 9.30am to 7.00pm. 90,000 visitors are expected at the show, the organizers have said. All of them, presumably, will be Raying the entrance fee, which is £1.
On pages 121 to 148 of this issue we've included a stand by stand review of the vehicle exhibits; pages 159 to 168 deal with the trailers; bodywork is covered on pages 205 through 210; and buses are reviewed on pages 197 to 202. Municipal and electrical vehicles are examined on pages 155 and 156.
Also, our man with the cast iron stomach has been going through the restaurants and pubs around Earls Court. His report on the availability of food and drink appears on pages 189 to 192.
