• Eden Vale was represented for the first time in the Express Dairy Company Driver of the Year competition. held on Sunday at the Express Ruislip depot.

Four entrants who were class winners in the LDoY competition sponsored by CM were awarded cheques for £10 donated by the Express Dairy insurance company—an increase of £5 on previous year's awards.

Mr R. Edge, from Tarvin, emerged from the 34 entrants—the highest number yet—as the overall winner, completing the six tests with the least number of penalities. The tests included parking and manoeuvring exercises with an articulated vehicle and a four-wheel tanker, height judging with a boxvan and garage parking with an 18cwt vehicle. These were supplemented with 10 questions relating to the Highway Code and drivers' regulations and finally finding faults deliberately manufactured in a vehicle.
