-GâOLLOWING the recent announcement
that Perkins had signed a manufacturing agreement with the Toyo Kogyo Co. Ltd., of Japan, for the production of engines in that country, there is news that Hino Motors Ltd. is to offer its RM100 medium-sized bus model with a Perkins 4.236 diesel to meet Australian market requirements.
The Japanese company recently concluded an export contract with Freighter Industries Ltd., of Australia, covering the export of vehicles and Hino is reported to be planning a joint venture in Australia with Freighter Industries to assemble vehicles shipped from Japan. This company is due to start operation in April with an annual production target of 150 large and 1,500 small vehicles.
