Homalloy light-alloy extruded bolted sections are used in the construction of both the platform and the bulk-cement container mounted on the Dodge 145 R6 chassis. Edbro 4 LXN tipping gear is fitted. Telehoist SL2 tipping equipment is provided on the Dodge 103 P6 5-cu.yd. light-alloy body.

THE three-way Carversion of the Morris-Commercial J-type van can be used as either a I2-seat personnel carrier, a seven-seat estate car or a twoberth sleeper. Full-length bench seats are fitted along each side of the body when used as a personnel carrier, and these are readily convertible into forward-facing seats when the vehicle is employed as an estate car. When fitted longitudinally, the bench seats can
be joined together to form a bed for two persons.
The new Morris-Commercial patent low-loading stretcher unit, mounted on a special locker, is included in the Morris-Commercial NVS ambulance. There is a full-length stretcher and seat locker, with folding arm-rests, on the off side. The base of the seat is mounted on Leveroll fittings arranged to wind out for use as a stretcher carrier. An attendant has a tip-up seat. with locker beneath, at the front on the off side.

WELDED steel-channel construction reinforced with hardwood is a feature common to the three mediumsized Luton van bodies built by Walkers. All the vehicles weigh under 3 tons unladen.
An integral full-fronted cab distinguishes the Seddon, which has a capacity of 1,100 Cu. ft. Dimensions of the body are: Length, 15 ft. 10 in.; width, 7 ft.: height. 9 ft.
Integral cabs are also included in the design of the two remaining exhibits. These are a Bedford 4-ton chassis. with 940-cu-ft. van body, and a Commer with a capacity of 555 Cuft. WESTON Stand 100

WOOD still has its uses in commercial-vehicle bodywork, as exemplified by the 10-cu.-yd. drop-sided body with extended headboard on the Dodge 144 R6 chassis. Weston Model 4 tipping gear is fitted.
In Contrast, the remaining exhibits on this stand will all have steel bodywork. Drop-sided bodies of 7-cu.-yd. and 5-cu.-yd. capacity are mounted on Thornycroft RGCR6 and MorrisCommercial FVSO 12/5 chassis, respectively. Model 4 twin-ram heavy-duty tipping gear is fitted to the Thornycroft, and Model 8 single-ram triple-extending equipment, with triangular body stabilizer, to the Morris-Commercial.
An Austin 5-ton tipper with lightweight all-steel 6-cu,-yd. body is also shown on this stand.

ONE of the most. interesting new vehicles at the Show is the eightseat chassisless bus produced by the Turner Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (described in The Commercial Motor on September 3), with a Whitsqn body. The prototype of this design, which can also be employed to carry 25 cwt. of goods, appears on this stand.
Two other passenger vehicles are both of conventional design. Seating for 44 passengers is provided in the Sentinel composite coach, the exterior of which is panelled in 18 g. aluminium. The entrance is enclosed by a folding jack-knife door; stanchions are provided just inside.
A flush-fitting sliding door is incorporated in the design of the 41-seat Grand Prix coach. Polished-alloy mouldings, a skirt rail around the wing valances and a wide waist-rail moulding, give a pleasing appearance.
WINDOVER Stand 117

THE latest Windover coach design incorporates many of the features which proved popular in the Kingsway model yet it weighs only 94tons fully laden. Of composite construction, it is panelled in aluminium. The entrance, enclosed by an outside sliding door, is at the rear; the emergency exit is in the centre on the off side.
Visibility is improved by a Perspex front dome, which is provided with blinds. A large Perspex lift-up panel increases ventilation. Maximum comfort is claimed for the seats, the design of which includes a high-back head-rest.
The two coaches on show are generally similar in design. A different exterior moulding arrangement distinguishes the Crossley from the Maudslay Reliance, Both have 41 seats.
WILLOWBROOK Stand 87

A NOTH ER passenger vehile of chassisless construction at Earls Court is the A.E.C.-Willowbrook lightalloy Monocoach, designed specially for express-service work. It has 4) semi-coach seats, lift-up transparent roof panels, glass roof cornices, tubular parcel racks and a large-capacity luggage locker at the rear. The Leyland Tiger Cub forms the basis of the other "express-service coach on this stand. It is of lightweight allmetal construction. A touring coach body is shown on a Daimler Freeline chassis. Both have seating for 41 passengers.
WOOD HOISTS Stand 48

THE only complete tipper on this stand is an Atkinson S.746 chassis fitted with Edbro-B. and E. tipping gear and bodywork. The heavy-duty camand-roller gear is-fitted in a sub-frame. It is designed so that the greatest leverage is at the commencement of tipping. the force exerted decreasing, and the speed increasing, as tipping proceeds. The steel body, which is 12 ft. long, 6 ft. 11 in. wide and 2 ft. deep, has a top-hinged taildoor.
Also shown is the Edbro-B. and E. D.64 power-operated end-discharge hoist, which can be fitted to all standard 5-ton long-wheelbase chassis.

FOLLOWING the success of wood and light-alloy construction in their lightweight models, Yeates now employ these materials in their entire range. three examples of which are exhibited.
A central sliding door distinguishes the Riviera 43-seat coach body on a Dennis Lancet chassis from the other two Riviera 41-seat designs on view. These, based on Crossley Reliance and Maudslay Mark IV chassis, have entrances at the front. A top-hinged rear locker door is used in all three.
