Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Unipower Aintree 6 x 6 normal control chassis, which receives its first showing at Earls Court today. is a six-wheeled version of the Junior 4 x 4 tractor and has been designed for overseas work under adverse conditions. It is powered by a Perkins P6 oil engine developing 83 b.h.p. at 2,400 r.p.m., with a maximum torque of 202 lb.-ft. at 1,300 r.p.m. Its wheelbase is 13 ft. 4 in, A five-speed gearbox, with overdrive top ratio, is mounted in the chassis as a unit with the engine. The gear ratios are 6.43, 3.60, 1.81, 1 and 0.818 to 1, with a 5.0 to 1 reverse ratio. A short cardan shaft takes the drive to the twospeed transfer box. The selector mechanism in the box is arranged so that six-wheeI drive can be engaged only when using low ratio.

The rear propeller, shaft drives to a second transfer box and torque divider located between the rear driving axles. A power take-off drive can be taken from the second transfer box.

Rzeppa constant-velocity joints are used in the drive between the transfer box and the axles, These allow fall articulation of the axles without loss of traction, the rear suspension consisting of four swivel-mounted semielliptic springs with a central spherical 'bearing on eachside of the frame and bronze bearings at the axles.

Rzeppa joints are used also in the front-axle steering ends and all axles are of 5-ton capacity. The front sumspension is by semi-elliptic springs.

Girling two-leading-shoe wedgeoperated brakes take effect on all wheels, with a Clayton Dewandre vacuum servo interposed in the Lock. heed hydraulic system. Front and rear drums are 16 in. in diameter, with widths of 212in. and 3iin. respectively. The hand brake acts on the rear wheels only.
