Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

COACH and bus traffic is steadily increasing in Germany. The number of buses on local services in May this year was L943, against 1,883 at the end of 1936. Of this number, 1,886 were run by private companies or the municipalities., 55 by the Reich Post Office and two by the State Railways.

The number of coaches on long-distance routes was 6,140 in May, 1937, compared with 5,942 in May last year; 3,658 belonged to the Post Office, 114 to the State Railways and 2,368 to private concerns.

Last May, 636 local bus services, with a total length of 3,840 kiloms., were running, against 551 in May, 1936,

with a length of 3,337 kiloms. On long-distance journeys, there were 4,006 services totalling 84,922 idioms., corn

pared with 3,899 and 79,595 respectively.

The number of passengers carried by private and municipal enterprise in May this year was 37,600,000, against 32,100,000; the Post Office and State Railways together carried 6,700,000 against 4,800,000.

The distances covered in vehiclekiloms. also rose considerably, the figure for private and municipal concerns being 8,215,000 for local traffic and 6,563,000 for long-distance, against 6,721,000 and 6,025,000 respectively. For local services run by the Post Office and State Railways, the figure was 114,000, against 122,000,
