MR. W. R. GORDON has resigned his directorship of the Coal Utilisation Council.
MR. JOHN STEWART, for 53 years a member of the head-office staff of Cowan and Co., the prominent Glasgow haulage concern, has retired, after having been in charge of the freights department for 25 years.
MR. R, T. HINCHCLIEFE, material controller, and MR, F. GR1MSHAW, planning controller, of Leyland Motors, Ltd., are to make, next month, an extensive tour of the United States, when they will visit a number of motorvehicle factories. This visit is in keeping with the company's policy of sending abroad members of its staff so as to widen their knowledge.
The directoi-s of Rootes Securities, Ltd., announce that -MR. R. W. HAMMOND, A.C,A., financial comptroller of the company for several years, has been appointed a director. MR. HAROLD HEATH, general manager, has also been appointed a director of the company, and of the Hillman 14otor Car Co., Ltd. He is the son of Mr. George Heath, well-known in the Midland motor trade.
MR. CHARLES H. ALLEN, principal Of the Ford dealership bearing his name in London Road, Romford, is the Charter Mayor of Romford, which has recently been created a borough. The official opening of new showrooms and repair shops in connection with his business will take place during the Charter week celebrations.
