Mistook Police for Bandits!

The driver of a Post Office van, who was stated to have mistaken the police for bandits, pleaded guilty, at Huddersfield West Riding Police Court, to exceeding the speed limit.

The offence occurred at 4.20 a.m., when the defendant was driving a Post Office van, containing. 30 to 40 mail bags, from Wakefield to Huddersfield. When he saw the following police car, which was indistinguishable from an ordinary private car, he became suspicious. Anxious for the safety of the mail bags, he accelerated as hard as he could. On being stopped, he was rather relieved to find that the following car contained police officers.

The magistrates dismissed the case on payment of 4s. costs, Studebaker Introduces Oiler.

The frame is exceptionally sturdy. Lockheed hydraulic brakes are fitted.
